The UCSF Center for Healthcare Value (CHV) has designated 10 projects submitted to the 5th Annual UCSF Health Improvement Symposium as receiving “Blue Ribbon Awards for High-Value Care”. The award targets projects geared toward improving financial strength by reducing costs, improving value and reducing waste.
The 2021 Blue Ribbon Awards were given to the following projects and teams:
- “Surgeon Placed Transverse Abdominis Plane Blocks as an Alternative to Thoracic Epidurals” (Allison Kay and team)
- “Increase Pre-operative Enteral Acetaminophen Use” (Dean Thorsen and team)
- “COVID-19 Symptom Checker: MyChart Self-Triage & Self-Scheduling Tool” (Timothy Judson and team)
- “Pursuing Pharmacy Revenue Opportunities” (Jessica Galens and team)
- “IV Acetaminophen Stewardship: Leveraging the EHR to Support Value Improvement” (Kendall Gross and team)
- “First Case on-time Starts- Mission Bay Perioperative Pediatrics” (Scout Hebinck and team)
- “Increasing the Percent of Same-day Discharges after Elective Percutaneous Coronary Intervention” (Olivia Hodgkiss and team)
- “Reviewing Preference Cards to Decrease Supply Waste and Cost per Case in Kidney Transplant Surgeries” (Seema Gandhi and team)
- “Surgical Preference Card Review & Refresh” (Eva Turner and team)
- “Vasopressin Quality Improvement” (Gabriela Young and team)
